Yellowstone launches aerial search after worker Austin King vanished on hike, leaving behind chilling note
Yellowstone National Park officials were launching Sunday an aerial search for missing 22-year-old Austin King — who mysteriously disappeared after setting out for a hike in inclement weather. Yellowstone’s public affairs office confirmed to Cowboy State Daily Friday that Superintendent Cam Sholly requested an “extensive” search as areas of the park previously under snow have become visible in recent days.

King was reported overdue to the Yellowstone Interagency Communications Center after failing to arrive for his scheduled boat pickup near Yellowstone Lake’s Southeast Arm on the afternoon of September 20. King had planned a seven-day backcountry trip to summit Eagle Peak.
