Former President Bill Clinton joined Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz at a campaign rally in Durham, North Carolina, on Thursday.

The politicians focused their remarks around contrasting the two major presidential campaigns, characterizing a prospective Trump-Vance administration as dangerous for democracy, while identifying the Harris-Walz ticket as the campaign of “freedom.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. — Kamala Harris' running-mate Tim Walz will be in the Tar Heel State on the first day of early voting, Thursday. The Harris-Walz campaign said Walz will make stops in Durham and Winston-Salem. While in Durham, he'll be joined by former president Bill Clinton for a campaign event.

Another vice presidential hopeful is visiting the Triad, and he’ll be joined by a celebrated artist and activist. A week after Senator JD Vance held a townhall in Greensboro, Governor Tim Walz will make a stop in Winston-Salem for an event marking the start of early voting in North Carolina.

He’ll first join Bill Clinton in Durham to kick off the former president’s four-day Eastern North Carolina bus tour for Vice President Kamala Harris, aimed at reaching rural voters. Later, Walz will head to Winston-Salem for a rally. This is the Minnesota governor’s third visit to the Tar Heel State since he became Harris’ running mate.
