Verizon users were reporting outages across the network Thursday, with the company confirming issues began earlier in the day. Reports on Down Detector surged between 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. ET for the network,

Users can tell when their iPhone is in SOS mode because the bars in the top right corner of their screen will disappear and be replaced with “SOS.”

More than half of the people reporting issues on DownDetector.com said there are problems with their mobile phones. One-third are without a signal, and 14% are experiencing a total blackout. The outage map shows concentrated reports of problems in New York, Atlanta, Central Florida, and many other locations, including Metro Detroit.

Verizon customers across the United States experienced widespread outages Monday, with users reporting an inability to make calls or use the internet.
