An American woman, presumed to have been killed by a shark while diving in Indonesia, possibly died from a medical condition before any encounter with the predator, according to her friend.

In a blood-curdling incident straight out of a horror movie, Colleen Monfore's exotic island getaway turned into a nightmare when the 68-year-old American tourist vanished, feared to be eaten by a shark.

Colleen Monfore's loved ones believe she died of a medical issue during a dive off the coast of Indonesia, not by shark attack.

"I thought it had swallowed plastic or a fishing net. It was cut open to find the problem and inside there were the remains of a woman," the fisherman who caught the shark said.
