The National Conference and Congress alliance has done exceedingly well in the recently conducted Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections 2024. The BJP has won 27 seats whereas the NC has bagged 39 so far, according to the ECI website.

Amid reports of Congress trailing & unsuccessful talks of the AAP-Congress alliance, Delhi minister and AAP leader Gopal Rai said, “As I said, talks for the alliance were held. It seemed that there would indeed be an alliance between the two parties. But finally, there was no alliance.”

In the Union Territory, Congress-NC has crossed the majority mark of 52 seats, early trends show. Omar Abdullah is leading on Ganderbal seat and emerged victorious on Budgam seat, whereas Iltija Mufti from Bijbehara is trailing.

The stage is all set for Jammu & Kashmir’s Budgam to elect its Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) after a long wait of around 10 years. The counting of votes for the 90 assembly constituencies of the Jammu &Kashmir Legislative Assembly is taking place today starting at 8 AM.

The exit polls have predicted a hung assembly in the Union Territory. The BJP, which went solo in the election, is likely to win 23 to 27 seats while the Congress-NC alliance is likely to secure 46-50 seats.
